Common Cause Applauds Prof. Jessica Levinson’s Appointment to Los Angeles Ethics Commission
Los Angeles – On October 18, 2013, Professor Levinson was confirmed by the Los Angeles City Council to serve on the LA Ethics Commission. The Commission is responsible for shaping and enforcing the City’s ethics, lobbying, and campaign finance laws that ensure a level of transparency and fairness in elections and governmental decisions.
Professor Levinson began teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola in 2009 to present, teaching campaign finance and elections law. From 2008-11, Levinson served as the Director of Political Reform at the Center for Governmental Studies. Professor Jessica Levinson’s work has focused on election law and governance issues, including campaign finance, ethics, ballot initiatives, redistricting, term limits and state budgets.
“Professor Levinson will provide a smart, practical and impartial perspective on matters handled by the LA Ethics Commission. Levinson regularly appears as an election law and governance expert on the television and the radio, including programs aired on NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox News, Fox Business Channel, NPR, KNX and KPFK. She is also frequently quoted in the print media, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, Sacramento Bee, San Francisco Chronicle and Reuters.
