Common Cause Nebraska Celebrates LB20 Becoming Law

Lincoln The following is a statement from Common Cause Nebraska Executive Director Gavin Geis after LB20, a bill that ends the two-year waiting period for Nebraskans to regain their voting rights, became law without the governor’s signature.

“Today is a great day for voting rights and democracy in Nebraska. Making Nebraskans wait two years to have the right to vote after serving their time was an arbitrary deadline that needed to be removed. We applaud the legislature for supporting the restoration of 1000s of our neighbors’ rights and removing this barrier to voter participation in our state.“
