The free flow of information and the exchange of ideas are essential to any democracy; in the past decade, the internet has become essential to citizen dialog.

Network neutrality is the principle of online fairness. It enables users to access the services they want — and to express themselves online — without meddling by internet service providers (ISP) or those with the most money.

Unfortunately, when the FCC overturned net neutrality protections at the end of 2017, they left states to pick up the pieces and figure out how to protect citizens from the abuses of service providers. Common Cause Nebraska supports efforts in the unicameral to protect the right of every Nebraskan to access the internet without restrictions.
