We offer a robust benefits package. As a Common Cause employee, you and your family have access to a range of benefits. Your benefits depend on the type of position you have – whether you’re a permanent, part-time, or temporary employee. You may be eligible for the following benefits, however, be sure to check and make sure your position is eligible. Below is a sample of some of our benefits, for full details of the benefits listed or others contact Human Resources and Personnel Handbook.

Health Care: We offer medical, dental, and vision benefits, in addition to an employer-paid Employee Assistance Program, for you and your family. We cover 97% of employee’s medical care and 100% of their vision and dental benefits. We also cover 75% of family medical care and 100% of their vision and dental benefits.

Long-term Disability and Life Insurance – Common Cause provides 100% of this benefit

401(K) Retirement Plan: For eligible employees can enroll in a 401k plan, we match after your first year of continuous employment. Employer contribution is $1.50 for every dollar contributed by the employee up to 4% a year. That means if an employee contributes 4% of their salary each year, Common Cause contributes 6% as a match. Staff are fully vested after their 3rd year in the program.

Vacation: 15 days of paid vacation days per year (After 3 years working at Common Cause, vacation increases to 20 days off. Part-time and term limited employees earn vacation on a prorated basis)

Sick Leave: 15 days of paid sick leave (part-time and term limited employees earn sick leave on a prorated bases)

Holidays: 12 paid holidays

Additional Paid Leave: In addition to holidays, we provide the following 8 paid days of time off–Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day, December 24th, December 26th through and including December 31st.

Paid Parental and Family Medical Leave: 8 weeks paid parental leave and FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), in addition to various family and school non-paid leave.

Personal days: A full-time regular employee receives 3 discretionary days each calendar year as personal leave. Temporary and part-time employees receive pro-rata personal leave. Employees may also use two days per fiscal year of accrued sick leave as personal days

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Employees are eligible to opt into a pre-tax dollars contributions to an FSA account for dependent care, commuter benefits, and eligible medical, dental, and vision care expenses that are not covered by the health care plan.

Professional Development: Yearly professional development stipend for opportunities related to your work at Common Cause

CARE@Work Benefit: We offer premium, unlimited access to Care.com to find caregivers, tutors, senior caregivers, sitters, and more. Through the Premium Membership you can connect with and hire caregivers for any need. You can post a job for a specific care need, and search and filter for your care needs within a zip code radius that fits your requirements. Staff are also eligible for two days/year of Backup Care, to use for Adult Backup Care, Child Backup Care, or a combination of both.

Dependent and Childcare Stipend: We provide employees stipends to assist with covering dependent care costs associated with work-related travel limited to– staff attending National Governing Board meetings, staff retreats, and Common Cause sponsored events.
