The 11th Circuit’s remand of Georgia’s voter roll purges is a victory for Georgia and for democracy. Common Cause Georgia is encouraged with the news of our voter roll purge case against Secretary of State Brian Kemp. Our state should not be using random criteria to remove legally registered voters from the voter rolls.

New Russia Investigation Indictments Hammer Home Need to Support Special Counsel’s Investigation

Americans expect and deserve to know the truth about the Russian attacks on our democracy. Today’s indictments provide more of that truth and hammer home the seriousness of the attacks and the need to support and protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his investigation. We are hopeful that these new facts will finally drive the White House and those in Congress who have worked to hamper the investigation to admit the reality and the scope of the attack and the threat from Russia which is ongoing today as we approach our next election.

Americans expect and deserve free and fair elections, but the release of a report on the Voting Machine Hacking Village at DEFCON last summer lays bare the vulnerabilities of our nation’s election equipment, databases and infrastructure. The Atlantic Council’s convening of a bipartisan group of national security advisors, cybersecurity experts and election officials to establish protocols to safeguard our elections is welcome news.

Senate Intelligence Committee Must Disclose More About Russian Election Attacks

Americans deserve to know more about the Russian attack to sway the 2016 presidential race and Congress owes them some answers. Without undermining the investigation or any intelligence assets, Congress needs to share more of its findings with the American people. To date most of what citizens know about the attacks comes from media reports.
