FOR THE PEOPLE RALLIES

The For the People Act represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build up our democracy by putting more power in the hands of everyday people by strengthening voting, campaign finance and ethics laws. And this summer, we need to put massive pressure on the Senate to take action for our democracy.

That’s why your Common Cause New Mexico team is participating in two rallies this weekend!

SATURDAY, JULY 10 in ALBUQUERQUE
Join Rep. Melanie Stansbury, Sen. Harold Pope, Common Cause’s Viki Harrison, and Mason Graham of the New Mexico Black Voters’ Collaborative at a rally hosted by Indivisible Nob Hill.
WHERE: Roosevelt Park, 501 Sycamore St. SE
WHEN: Saturday, July 10 at 11 a.m.

SUNDAY, JULY 11 in SANTA FE
Join Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, and Common Cause New Mexico’s Mario Jimenez at a rally hosted by Indivisible Nob Hill.
WHERE: Downtown Federal Building/US Courthouse Park, 106 S. Federal Place
WHEN: Sunday, July 11 at 11 a.m.

This fight is not going to be easy. Over the last few months, we have seen that those elected officials who don’t want to put power in the hands of everyday people will use every procedural trick in their playbook to avoid a real debate on these much-needed reforms.

That’s why it’s critical that our senators continue to hear from us about why they need to take bold action to help the For the People Act become law.

Most importantly, we will send a message – loud and clear – that Senators Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján need to do everything they can to support a big, bold For the People Act, and not let anything, including the filibuster, get in the way.

We hope to see you there!

P.S. If you can’t join us at either event this weekend, please dial 833-497-4273 to call Senators Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján and ask them to do whatever it takes to pass a bold, comprehensive For the People Act.
