The Massachusetts Legislature must now move quickly to pass the VOTES Act (S.2554), which includes same-day voter registration and other voting reforms for our state.

The Election Modernization Coalition applaud the finding of a UMass Amherst poll released today showing that 65% of registered voters in Massachusetts support Same Day Voter Registration.

The VOTES Act is strongly supported by the Massachusetts Election Modernization Coalition, an umbrella group working to modernize the Commonwealth’s election laws. More than 100 grassroots organizations across the Bay State have endorsed the legislation.

On Monday, the Massachusetts Legislature’s Joint Committee on Elections Laws sent the VOTES Act to the Senate Ways and Means Committee, the first step in bringing the comprehensive voting bill up for a vote.

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley was joined by speakers from civic, community, immigrant, environmental, and faith-based organizations to proclaim their support for democracy and voting rights. 

Experts, advocates, and community organizers testify in support of the VOTES Act to improve Massachusetts elections. The bill has strong momentum with over 100 cosponsors in the state legislature.
