Common Cause Illinois calls for continued, urgent focus on ethics reform

CHICAGO — Common Cause Illinois released the following statement on passage of the revised ethics bill by the Illinois General Assembly:

“Illinois needs a complete overhaul on ethics. While today’s bill makes some progress towards remedying Illinois’s seemingly intractable problem with corruption, the General Assembly must continue the cause of crafting transparent and accountable government at all levels in our state,” said Common Cause Illinois Executive Director Jay Young. “Our members will continue to advocate on key issues like mandatory recusal, stronger enforcement mechanisms, and more.”
