Major Gifts Officer

The Major Gifts Officer identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards individual donors with the capacity to make annual gifts of $1,000 and greater, and solicits and stewards individual prospects for planned giving. This position is responsible for developing a comprehensive plan for targeted major donors and prospects, with the goal of increasing engagement and support for Common Cause. The Major Gifts Officer handles a portfolio of donor prospects and current donors and is responsible for directly soliciting individuals for support. The position works with board members, the president and staff to cultivate and solicit major donors. The Major Gifts Officer also works with state executive directors and staff to design and implement their major donor campaigns with the goal of increasing donors and income in the states. This position also plays an important role in designing and implementing fundraising events at the national and state level. The Major Gifts Officer tracks and monitors progress, reports on the status, and ensures that major donor revenue goals are met.

Program Director, Media and Democracy

Working with Common Cause staff and our Special Advisor, former FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, the Program Director leads a multi-year campaign to educate and engage the public and policymakers about: critical reforms needed to advance media diversity and to promote the local, diverse media that are so essential for the functioning of a healthy democracy. Key policy areas include: achieving universal access to the Open Internet; promoting affordable telecommunications; enshrining diverse media ownership; and winning full disclosure of political advertising.
