Midterm 2018 Election: Top Things You Should Know

Early Voting has begun in Massachusetts. The early voting period runs from Monday, October 22 to Friday, November 2, 2018.

For specifics about where and when to vote early in your town, visit http://www.sec.state.ma.us/earlyvotingweb/earlyvotingsearch.aspx

You may also wait until Election Day, which is Tuesday, November 6 or vote absentee, if you plan to be out of town during these dates.

Our democracy is under assault from special interests and big money.

To learn about Massachusetts candidates’ positions on protecting our democracy and democratic norms, visit www.democracy2018.org, an interactive, non-partisan website, with candidates’ self-reported information on issues like voting rights, money in politics, ethics and gerrymandering. Common Cause has asked every candidate simple yes/no questions about important pro-democracy reforms.

To be eligible to vote absentee in the midterm election in Massachusetts, a voter must be absent from your city or town on Election Day, have a physical disability or a religious belief that prevents you from voting on November 6. Absentee ballots must be postmarked by the end of Election Day. For more information on casting an absentee ballot, visit: http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleabsentee/absidx.htm

You have the right to vote. If you are registered and encounter ANY obstacles to voting, call 866-OUR-VOTE for help from non-partisan, trained volunteers. There are also dedicated hotlines for non-English speakers.
