Join the Common Cause Action Team
Six in ten Americans send and receive text messages. That means we can use text messages to reach people we might not be able to connect with otherwise, in a format we already know they’re comfortable using. Textbanking is a great platform for those with previous peer-to-peer experience who are ready to master the latest voter contact technology.
In order to volunteer, all you will is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with an internet connection.
Step 1:
Join our digital headquarters by going to www.commoncause.org/joinslack. This is highly encouraged so you can stay updated on textbanks. https://www.commoncause.org/education-fund/events/
Step 2:
After signing up for a shift, check your inbox for an email from Common Commons that contains RSVP information for our upcoming text shifts. Sign up for one of those shifts you will receive a detailed email with all that you need to learn about the tools and how to get started! (TRAINING WILL BE INCLUDED)
Step 3:
Watch the text training You also will receive the link to join Common Cause Slack.
Step 4:
Join the Common Cause Slack account and complete the onboarding process. Then you will be ready to start texting!
Who You Will Be Talking To
Through our tools, you’ll be connected with registered voters in target states across the country. This year, we think it is really important to make sure everyone stands up to be counted, so we are focusing on talking to a variety of voters, from never-voters to semi-frequent voters, to remind them to vote in November. We know that we can’t win this cycle without support up and down the ballot.
