The U.S. Supreme Court announced this morning that it will hear oral arguments in Gill v. Whitford, an appeal of a three-judge federal trial court decision that Wisconsin State Assembly districts are an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander.

Common Cause, the Campaign Legal Center, and Duke University’s Center for Political Leadership, Innovation, and Service (POLIS) will host a national conference on redistricting reform that will bring together academics, litigators, and activists from around the country to discuss strategies for ending the manipulation of legislative districts for political advantage. The conference will take place March 2-3 in Durham, North Carolina at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy.

Ohio's move to permit voters to register online starting next year is an important improvement in the state's voting laws, but the state has more work to do to encourage voter registration and give voters more options on where they cast their ballots, Common Cause says in a report released today.
