Role: Youth Programs Digital Advocacy Intern (National) 

Location: Remote or Hybrid in Washington, DC 

Start Date: June 17th – August 30 

Reports to: Youth Engagement Organizer 

Details: This is a part-time internship (20 hours/pay period), starting on June 17. 

Essential functions: Common Cause is seeking interns to work with our national youth engagement team relating to communicating about voting and elections, redistricting, and democracy reform to our youth base and other young people. The digital advocacy intern will assist with advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement, communications, and/or member outreach and events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to and values a fair and transparent democracy, and who is keenly interested in learning more about graphic design and digital engagement. 

 Skills you will build and work you will be involved in 

  • Build engaging content for social media platforms (Videos, photos, info graphs, text, live streams, polls, etc.) 
  • Be a spokesperson for video content for social media accounts 
  • Manage posting content to various social media platforms. Translate aspects of our Youth Programs work into content that can be shared on social media 
  • Create high-quality, engaging written content for the new website, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s goals and target audience. 
  • Assist youth programs team with #16for16 campaign website  
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting social media engagement using analytics tools. 
  • Assist in the development and content creation of the email and SMS text lists

Qualifications 

You will be a good fit for this internship if you have: 

  • A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process 
  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner  
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills 
  • A willingness to learn new skills 

Compensation: $1,750 for the 11 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.   

Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
