In 2012 Common Cause had volunteers at the polls in Rhode Island to observe the process. What we found was much room for improvement. Our report, ‘We have to fix that,’ provides details of what went wrong, and what can be done to fix that.

In 2011 Common Cause Rhode Island looked at the record of the General Assembly in complying with the state's Open Meetings Act. This report demonstrates that over a decade after the watershed report, “Access Denied: Chaos, Confusion, and Closed Doors” much work remains to be done to ensure that the work of our legislature is completely transparent.
