Role: Redistricting and Representation Intern

Details: This is a part-time internship 40 hours per pay period, starting June 17 and ending August 30th.
Essential Functions: We are seeking a redistricting and representation intern to assist with ballot initiatives, legislation, litigation, and public education work. Our efforts include original research, writing for public audiences, media outreach, and public forums that draw a straight line from redistricting to the policy outcomes that impact a community’s health, safety, and economy. We co-lead this work with national and state-based coalition partners representing ethnically, politically, and geographically diverse communities.

The redistricting and representation intern will assist with research tasks, public communications, and coalition management. Interns receive substantive experience that is similar or often identical to staff work due to our extensive and active efforts around the country.
Qualifications:
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process
- A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
- A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
- A willingness to learn new skills
Compensation: $3,500 for the 11 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.
Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
