Meet Sam…
Sam is the Director of Foundation Relations at Common Cause. He works collaboratively with state and national colleagues to identify funding opportunities and partner with foundation staff and trustees to resource campaigns around voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance reform, and other democracy issues.
Before joining Common Cause, Sam was a Senior Writer with The Public Interest Network, where he helped raise millions of dollars for state and national network groups working on environmental protection, civic engagement, consumer rights, and other issues.
He has trained hundreds of advocates and executive directors on fundraising principles and practices, and has experience ranging from small-donor membership recruitment to managing multi-million-dollar grants. He began his public interest career as a community organizer working with student leaders and activists to expand voter registration and civic engagement at campuses in the Los Angeles Community College District. Sam is a Vermont native, currently residing in Washington D.C. with his wife and two daughters.
