Meet Aaron…

Aaron Scherb joined Common Cause in May 2013 as the director of legislative affairs. In this role, he helps craft and gain support for various good-governance proposals, primarily related to campaign finance reform, voting rights, redistricting reform, and ethics/lobbying reform. Aaron also coordinates advocacy activities with members of Congress and their staff by helping plan and speak at congressional briefings and press conferences. Additionally, he works with key coalition partners to expand support for democracy reforms beyond the “good government” community and manages the Common Cause intern program. From working as a congressional staffer for three-and-a-half years, his knowledge and understanding of the legislative process, as well as his relationships with congressional offices, help advance Common Cause’s legislative goals. Aaron has been quoted or had work cited in the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press, Baltimore Sun, Roll Call, The Hill, and other publications. Aaron has recently been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Denver Post, BBC, The Atlantic, and McClatchy.

In his spare time, Aaron enjoys playing tennis, running, watching C-SPAN, and cheering on the Cubs. Aaron received his M.A. in government from Johns Hopkins University and his B.A. in political science from Haverford College.
