Cast a complete ballot with the 2016 NC Voter Guide

While the race for the White House has dominated attention in this year’s election, North Carolina voters will find dozens of other contests on their ballot – from U.S. Senate and governor to the state legislature, courts and local offices.

In fact, North Carolina has one of the longest ballots in the nation. But finding information on the so-called “down-ballot” candidates can be a challenge. That’s why Common Cause North Carolina has produced the 2016 NC Voter Guide online at NCVoterGuide.org. At the site, voters can simply plug in their home address and see their personalized ballot, with side-by-side comparisons of the candidates and information on voting in North Carolina.

Common Cause NC partnered with Democracy North Carolina on a print edition of the voter guide, which has been widely distributed across the state.

On Tuesday, our own Sarah Gudger took the guide to coffee shops in Raleigh and chatted with folks there about the importance of voting a full ballot in this year’s election.

“I think it’s important to a full ballot because these are the people that make the decisions that affect our everyday lives,” said Anna Boggs, a student at NC State University. “And so it’s important to put your say out there and be informed when doing so.”

Austin da Luz, a player with the Carolina RailHawks, echoed that sentiment, saying, “It’s important for people to understand that they have a say in the issues that affect them everyday, both at the top of the ballot and down the ballot as well.”
