Coalition of Groups Praises Governor’s Action

In response to the Governor’s Executive Order to permit emergency ballots, the Election Protection Coalition, Common Cause/NY, New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), the New York Immigration Coalition, and the Brennan Center for Justice put out the following statement:

The effects of Hurricane Sandy on the residents of New York have been devastating. Fortunately, Governor Cuomo has taken action to reduce the impact the storm will have on turnout for the Presidential Election. Governor Cuomo understands that free and efficient elections are what makes this nation great. In thiseir darkest hour, New Yorkers can trust that over 200 years of democracy will not be undone by a single weather event, no matter how disastrous.
