Role: New York Legislative & Advocacy Intern
Location: New York Hybrid

Reports to: Deputy Director
Details: This is a part-time internship (10 hours/week), starting Friday, March 1st and ending Wednesday, May 15th
Essential functions: Common Cause (NY) is seeking a Legislative and Advocacy Intern. This is an exciting opportunity at the intersection of advocacy and communications. This intern will create engaging social media content, assist with grassroots activities, and work in collaborative spaces with various coalition partners. This is a chance to learn and grow at a non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy.
Skills you will build and work you will be involved in
- Assist with grassroots activities during the legislative session
- Assist with policy, research and legislative initiatives during the legislative session
- Generate content for social media
Qualifications
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process
- A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
- A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
- A willingness to learn new skills
Compensation: $1,785 for the 10.5 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.
Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
