Role: Michigan Voting and Elections Intern

Details: This is a part-time internship (60 hours/per pay period), starting Monday, July 1st and ending Sunday, September 15th
Essential functions: Common Cause Michigan (CCMI) is seeking a Voting and Elections Intern. This is an exciting opportunity on the front lines of democracy to learn about and assist with volunteer management, social media management, create engaging voting rights content, and facilitate educational opportunities. This is a chance to learn and grow at a non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy.
Skills you will build and work you will be involved in
- assist in engaging CCMI membership to grow volunteer capacity
- assist in election protection organizing for elections
- create and drive engagement for youth voters in 2024 elections
- assist in building CCMI social media presence
- aid in election protection webinars and trainings
- create voting rights and information resources
Qualifications
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process
- A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
- A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
- A willingness to learn new skills
Salary: $5,250 for the 11 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.
Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
