Statement by Miles Rapoport on Announcement that Chris Gates Will Assume Presidency of the Sunlight Foundation

The appointment of Chris Gates is great news for Sunlight and for our democracy. Chris is a longtime friend whose knowledge and experience in politics, philanthropy and genuine civic engagement make him uniquely suited to continue and strengthen the work done at Sunlight by Ellen Miller. She leaves a tremendous legacy and Chris is the perfect person to build on it.

I’m excited at the opportunity to work with Chris as a collaborator and strategist and to strengthen Common Cause’s relationship with Sunlight. All of us working for democracy reform have come to rely on the great tools Sunlight has developed to enable more complete, equitable and effective democratic participation.
