Democracy On Drugs

Our Common Cause report, “Democracy on Drugs” has made waves across the country. It is the first in a series that will draw attention to the misuse of power becoming increasingly common at the highest levels of government in Washington. This first report on the Medicare bill has been mentioned in news stories and op-eds in papers that include the Sacramento Bee, the Hartford Courant, the Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, IA), the Fresno Bee, the Allentown (PA) Morning Call and the Albuquerque (NM) Tribune. In addition a number of prominent national grassroots organizations have highlighted the report in their respective websites, such as the Center for American Progress, Campaign for America’s Future, and AFL-CIO.

The report even made it into the Congressional Record (click here for PDF file). Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Health of Ways & Means Committee, thought so highly of our information that he sent it to all his colleagues in the House, noting, “Common Cause is right.”
