Advocates call for permanent reforms to guarantee hybrid open meetings

Executive director Geoff Foster testified in support of legislation to limit political spending by foreign-influenced corporations and allow campaign funds to be used for childcare.

Common Cause Massachusetts urges the Committee to report favorably on three bills to limit political spending by foreign-influenced corporations; and two bills that would permit parents who are candidates for public office to use campaign funds to pay for childcare.

Common Cause Massachusetts supports today’s state Supreme Judicial Court’s decision, which concluded that a ban on corporate contributions to political campaigns helps prevent corruption and does not violate business’ First Amendment rights.
