CCMA Request for Ethics Investigation into State Senator Brian Joyce

Yesterday, our Executive Director Pam Wilmot, and our State Governing Board Chair Peter Sturges, filed a request for an ethics investigation into the actions of State Senator Brian Joyce. This came in light of recent news stories, including a detailed report by the Boston Globe, that raise some serious questions about possible violations of Massachusetts ethics and/or campaign finance laws.

While it is not yet clear if any violations have occured, the questions being raised are worth looking into. As Pam said in the above Boston Globe article, “Many of these scenarios raise significant questions about whether Senator Joyce violated the ethics and campaign finance laws and they deserve further investigation by the Ethics Commission and Campaign Finance Office. Public employees need to be fully loyal to the Commonwealth and to the public interest and not representing paying private clients before public agencies.”
