Role: Florida Voting & Elections Intern 

Location: Florida Hybrid 

Start Date: July 1- September 15, 2024 

Reports to: Executive Director 

Details: This is a part-time internship (30 hours/pay period), starting July 1st and ending September 15th 

Essential functions: Common Cause Florida is seeking an intern to work with our voting and elections program. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a major election year with nonpartisan grassroots engagement, volunteer management, voting rights/education messaging, research, data analysis, and training/events. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about voting and elections.   

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in 

  • Assisting and growing and engaging volunteer capacity 
  • Assisting in election protection organizing for elections 
  • Assisting with field mapping by identifying precinct targets across the state 
  • Posting social media content on various platforms 
  • Developing voting rights messaging and content for public education
  •  Aid in election protection webinars and trainings 

Qualifications 

You will be a good fit for this internship if you have: 

  • A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process 
  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner  
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills 
  • A willingness to learn new skills

Compensation: $2,625 for the 11 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.   

Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
