Colorado Legislative Session Begins

Congress grabs most of the spotlight, but there is more than enough action in state politics.

The 2013 Colorado Generally Assembly began last week. During the next several months our state representatives and state senators will propose and debate hundreds of bills on a wide range of issues.

This is your chance to be heard on the issues you care about.

If you’re a Twitter user or if you’re looking for another way to follow what happens at the Capitol, you can follow the hashtags #COleg and #COpolitics on Twitter to hear what legislators, reporters, advocates and other Coloradans are saying about the state legislature. You can also follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook to stay informed about the status of democracy issues at the Capitol.

The official Colorado General Assembly website is a resource to follow the action at the Capitol:

Our own agenda this year prioritizes making voting more convenient for Coloradans. From long lines to confusion about mail ballots to registration problems, there are too many barriers that keep eligible voters from participating in our elections. We need to change that so every eligible Coloradan can exercise his or her right to vote. You can learn more about our 2013 legislative agenda here.
