Common Cause Ohio organized a press briefing last week to discuss proposed changes to Ohio’s system of legislative redistricting.

The Florida Supreme Court ordered the release of 528 pages of emails sent between partisan political consultants and state officials that detailed a strategy for illegally gerrymandering the state’s congressional districts.

Following Senate Session today, Ann Henkener of the League of Women Voters of Ohio and Sam Gresham of Common Cause Ohio will be testifying before the Ohio House Policy and Legislative Oversight Committee about proposed redistricting reform proposals House Joint Resolutions 11 and 12.

The Tame the Gerrymander Coalition, including Common Cause Maryland, featured U.S. Rep. John Delaney, Maryland Del. Aisha Braveboy, and Common Cause National Redistricting Coordinator Dan Vicuna at a forum to discuss solutions to the problem of partisan gerrymandering.

The Florida Supreme Court ruled this week that documents detailing an unlawful redistricting collaboration between Florida legislators and a partisan political consultant must be released to the public.

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments today in a combined case challenging Alabama’s state legislative districts as an illegal racial gerrymander.
