During 2020, temporary COVID provisions allowed all voters in Delaware to vote by mail. But if the pending constitutional amendment is not passed soon, Delaware’s voters are likely to lose this voting option.

In an era of hyperpartisanship, Delaware legislators are working across the aisle to fix a system that requires most voters to register twice, to be able to vote in municipal elections.  The Senate is scheduled to debate and vote on the bill, Senate Bill 233, during its meeting that starts at 2pm today.

This week the Delaware General Assembly began considering a bipartisan bill that would eliminate the double registration requirement for municipal elections.

The “Remembrance and Vigil” will also call for action to strengthen and protect our country’s democracy. The event, hosted by local grassroots organizations, will be one of 200+ nationwide.

More than 40 Delaware clergy and faith leaders joined together in a letter to U.S. Senators Chris Coons and Tom Carper, thanking them for their support of federal voting legislation and asking them to “actively support filibuster reform so that the bills can get passed and onto President Biden’s desk for a signature.”
