Common Cause Delaware Raises Questions on Redistricting Bill Moving Already Approved District Lines

Today, Common Cause Delaware is calling on the Delaware General Assembly to answer questions about House Bill 335, which passed unanimously out of the House Administration Committee on Tuesday. On its face, the bill appears to make adjustments to House and Senate districts that were passed by the General Assembly in November of 2021.

Common Cause Delaware Calls for “Fully Independent” Redistricting Commission

Yesterday, the Delaware Senate and House of Representatives both approved their proposed district maps. State House and Senate maps will be sent to the Governor, who is expected to sign them into law for the next ten years. After advocating for a fair, transparent, and participatory process, Common Cause Delaware is now calling for the state to move to an independent redistricting commission model.

TONIGHT: Delaware House to Lead First Public Redistricting Hearing on Draft Maps

Tonight, House state legislators will provide the first opportunity for the public to weigh in on draft maps in a hybrid redistricting hearing in-person in the House Chamber and virtually on Zoom at 6:00 p.m. The public will be invited to provide testimony, during which Common Cause Delaware will advocate for a redistricting timeline extension, highlight the need for reform, and press for fair maps that prioritize the interests of the voters.

TONIGHT: Delaware State Legislature to Hold First Public Redistricting Hearing

Tonight, after calls from a grassroots coalition led by Common Cause Delaware, state legislators will hold the first of a series of public redistricting hearings virtually on Zoom at 6:00 p.m. The public will be invited to provide testimony, during which Common Cause Delaware will advocate for fair maps that prioritize the interests of voters ahead the interests of any one political party or elected official.

Community Organizations Demand State Leaders Fill in Details on Redistricting Process

Today, a diverse coalition is asking state leaders to come forward with specific redistricting hearing dates and times by September 28, the date of the first and only announced hearing.
