Role: Connecticut Research & Advocacy Intern

Location: Connecticut Hybrid 

Start Date: June 17-August 30, 2024  

Reports to: Executive Director 

Details:  This is a part-time internship (20 hours/pay period), starting Monday, June 17th and ending Friday, August 30th.  

Essential functions: Common Cause Connecticut is seeking a Research and Advocacy Intern. This is an exciting opportunity at the intersection of advocacy and communications. This intern will create engaging social media content, assist with voter education grassroots activities, and work in collaborative spaces with various coalition partners. This is a chance to learn and grow at a non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy.  

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in 

  • Assist with grassroots activities to educate voters about upcoming election including no excuse absentee voting ballot question 
  • Assist with policy and research initiatives 
  • Generate content for social media

Qualifications 

You will be a good fit for this internship if you have: 

  • A passion for learning about elections and voting rights 
  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner  
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills 
  • A willingness to learn new skills 

Compensation: $1,750 for the 11 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.    

Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
