Common Cause Rhode Island is a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to promote representative democracy by ensuring open, ethical, accountable, effective government processes at local, state, and national levels by educating and mobilizing the citizens of Rhode Island.
Over four decades we have a track record of reforming Rhode Island government, from creating the country’s strongest Ethics Commission, the most comprehensive system of merit selection of judges, to making Rhode Island the final state to embrace separation of powers.

In November 2012 Common Cause Rhode Island had over 60 volunteers at polling places around the state. They found problems ranging from long-lines, to poor signs. The result of their efforts was a 22-page report, ‘We have to fix that.' The recommendations from that report include implementing a system of in-person early voting in Rhode Island as well as the availability of on-line voter registration. Learn More ›
