Meet Katya…

Katya Ehresman is the Grassroots Organizer with Common Cause Texas. Native Texan and fervent youth organizer, Katya has years of experience with campus, youth, and issue-based organizing as well as policy research and coalition building.

Prior to joining Common Cause Texas, Katya was Assistant Director of Youth Programs at The Civics Center – managing hundreds of high schoolers and leading voter registration drives on high school campuses in 36 states, and developing leadership and advocacy trainings. She also has worked on numerous state and local electoral and advocacy campaigns – with unique leadership developing youth-focused mobilization and advocacy initiatives.

Outside of organizing, Katya has served as Communications Aide for a member of the Texas House of Representatives, Voting Rights Intern for the Texas Civil Rights Project, Student Assistant with the New Politics Forum at the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life, Chair of the Student Advisory Board at Campus Vote Project where she created and managed the first national Student Voting Network, and more during her 4 years as a Government and Public Policy Student at the University of Texas at Austin.

When she’s not at work, Katya likes to take her dog Gracie on hikes and frequent coffee shops around Austin.
