UPDATE: While enough Senators have come out against Whitley to block his nomination under normal rules, we know Whitley and Gov. Abbott have been meeting behind closed doors, scheming and trying to find a way to shove the nomination through for Texas’ chief election officer.

Call or Tweet Gov. Abbott and demand he pull Whitley’s nomination: (512) 463-2000

We cannot let that happen – the architect of the voter purge fiasco simply cannot be allowed to serve as our next Secretary of State. The confirmation hearing for David Whitley did nothing to allay our concerns that if we were approved to be Texas’ Secretary of State, he would pose a serious threat to the voting rights of all Texans.

If the Senate Committee on Nominations votes in favor of his nomination, then his nomination goes to the full Senate.

The architect of the voter purge fiasco simply cannot be allowed to serve as our the chief election officer of our state.

All Senators need to hear from us. Look up your senator here and use the advocacy table below to call or tweet your senator asking them to oppose the nomination of David Whitley to be Texas’ Secretary of State.
