Common Cause Indiana has gone to federal court to remove a major obstacle to voting for thousands of residents – many of them African-American – in Marion County, our largest locality and the home of our state capitol. Officials there have severely limited early voting at satellite locations, effectively depriving people who must work on Election Day or are unable to get to the polls for other reasons of their right to vote. Meanwhile, officials in suburban communities have provided extra early voting opportunities to their mostly white constituents. We must restore balance to our democracy and protect everyone’s rights.
