Our court action broke the back of an unusual cooperative arrangement that allowed Democratic and Republican politicians – not voters – to control judicial elections in Marion County. After the courts declared the selection process unconstitutional, we worked in the legislature to implement a new system that selects judges based on merit, not politics.
