Common Cause Pennsylvania adamantly opposes both proposals. HB 1300 in its current form will place multiple restrictions on the voting process that millions of Pennsylvanians have come to depend on. SB 735 is expected to lower turnout among Black, young and new voters.

Voting machines and ballots have been irrevocably destroyed in the process. He is  proposing to replicate the process in Pennsylvania.

Harrisburg – A new study finds that the natural gas industry continues to spend exorbitant amounts of money to influence Pennsylvania politicians – even in “off-year” election cycles. In 2015, the oil and gas industry spent over $8 million on lobbying. The total lobbying money spent by the industry since 2007 has been $55.9 million.

The natural gas industry has pumped nearly $50 million into Pennsylvania lobbying and political campaigns since 2007, according to a new report released today by Common Cause Pennsylvania.

“Moving clean government laws is never easy in the Pennsylvania legislature, but these are four easy pieces of basic reform – truly the low hanging fruit in a large orchard of overdue government reforms” said Common Cause Pennsylvania Executive Director Barry Kauffman. With the current legislative session nearly three-quarters completed, and despite ethics scandals rocking the capitol with troubling frequency, the General Assembly still has not passed any significant laws this session to clean up Pennsylvania government.
