Common Cause NC welcomes April Harris as the organization’s new development manager

RALEIGH – Common Cause NC is proud to announce that April Harris has joined the organization as development manager, bringing a wealth of development and civic experience to the position.

“We’re truly excited to have April join our team at Common Cause NC,” said Bob Phillips, executive director of Common Cause NC. “April’s expertise and proven success will greatly enhance our ability to meaningfully connect with our members and supporters throughout North Carolina, as well as strengthen our work of building an inclusive democracy for all.”

As development manager, Harris will help lead donor outreach and fundraising efforts at Common Cause NC.

“Common Cause NC is an exemplary statewide, grassroots nonprofit dedicated to protecting voting rights, ending gerrymandering, empowering HBCU students and ensuring that everyone has a voice in our democracy,” said April Harris, the new development manager with Common Cause NC. “I am delighted to join this team and help build an even broader base of financial partners that align with our pro-democracy values and support our programs of work.”

Harris was previously principal of New City Ventures, an independent community development firm, and executive director of Action Greensboro, a nonprofit economic development organization in Greensboro.

Prior to her position with Action Greensboro, she worked as special events manager for the City of Greensboro and vice president of Downtown Greensboro Inc. Harris obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
