With Map Approval, Citizen Process Proves To Be Best Choice for Michigan

We see the value of involving the public in an open redistricting process, instead of private decisions in secret and partisan discussions behind closed doors at the state Capitol.

In response to the court approving a new State House districts map, Common Cause Michigan Executive Director Quentin Turner released the following statement:

“We applaud the citizen redistricting commission for passing new maps that enable voters of color to elect their candidates of choice. This is a victory for fair maps and fair representation. Once again, we see the value of involving the public in an open redistricting process, instead of private decisions in secret and partisan discussions behind closed doors at the state Capitol.”
