In one of his last actions on legislation, Hogan has vetoed bills to make what he described as “positive changes to State election law.” The measures would have allowed elections clerks to pre-process mail-in ballots, so they can count the votes and announce results more quickly; created a statutory process allowing voters the opportunity to “cure” mistakes on their mail-in ballots, rather than having the ballots rejected; and provided for precinct-level reporting of early voting, mail-in voting and provisional ballots.

The Maryland General Assembly is considering legislation that would ensure State and local Boards of Elections are able to navigate changes being made to the primary election due to redistricting.

On Monday February 14th, the Maryland Senate will end the public’s ability to provide remote virtual testimony during committee hearings. 

Fair Elections Maryland applauds Howard County Council for fixing their local public financing program - Coalition disappointed as Anne Arundel County Council falls short on approving charter amendment on public financing.

The Howard County Council will vote on emergency legislation clarifying who is eligible for funds; and the Anne Arundel County Council will hold a public hearing on a proposed charter amendment requiring a system of public campaign financing.

The Howard County Council will hold a public hearing tonight on legislation to fix a provision that is blocking Fair Elections funding for at least one candidate who wishes to participate in the program and qualifies for matching funds.
