Common Cause Georgia Statement on Rudy Giuliani’s Testimony in Georgia Criminal Investigation

Under a federal judge’s orders, Rudy Giuliani appeared in front of a Fulton County grand jury Wednesday to answer questions about how he and others worked with former President Donald Trump to overturn the 2020 election. Giuliani was informed earlier this week he was a target in the criminal probe overseen by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Statement from Aunna Dennis, Common Cause Georgia Executive Director

There is no more sacred right in our democracy than our right to vote in free and fair elections.

But Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump, and other conspirators trampled on those rights when they disregarded our state’s and nation’s laws in their abhorrent scheme to overturn the election.

“Election subversion is not a game, and Georgia is not a playground,” said Aunna Dennis, executive director of Common Cause Georgia. “Everyone who participated in this criminal scheme to hold on to power must be held accountable, no matter how high up they once sat in our nation’s rungs of power.”

Common Cause Georgia continues to call for transparency in regards to this investigation. We hope indictments will be forthcoming for those who knowingly spread lies about our election system and denigrated our election workers to take power from the will of the people.

Aunna Dennis is available to discuss Common Cause Georgia’s calls for accountability after the 2020 election cycle, as well as ongoing efforts to increase voters’ access to the ballot. Email sovaska@commoncause.org to arrange interviews.
