Common Cause Wisconsin celebrates Evers’ veto of “modern-day poll tax”
Governor Tony Evers vetoed on Friday a bill that would have put even more restrictions on convicted felons’ right to vote.
The bill largely flew under the radar this spring while Wisconsinites were focused on the most expensive court election in American history. But it later saw a flood of opposition when pro-democracy organizations like Common Cause Wisconsin sounded the alarm.
Common Cause Executive Director Jay Heck joined our News Producer Faye Parks this afternoon to explain why the proposal amounted to a “modern-day poll tax.”
