“Unity Over Politics:” Common Cause Pennsylvania Urges Lawmakers to End Budget Impasse

As the state budget enters its third week of delays, government watchdog group Common Cause Pennsylvania urges lawmakers, specifically Republican leaders in the state Senate, to reconvene and pass the bill.

Statement from Christina Hartman, Common Cause Pennsylvania advisory board chair:

“Pennsylvania’s budget impasse is the result of putting politics over people. This is now the second time this session that legislators have allowed political differences to take precedence over their duty to their constituents. Pennsylvanians deserve to have a functioning government.

“We’re asking that lawmakers choose unity over politics. We have real issues that need solutions in the Keystone state, and this squabbling serves no one. Reconvene, send the budget to Governor Shapiro’s desk, and let’s get to work.”
