Advancing A Democracy That Represents All of Us

Together, we’re working to realize the unfinished promise of democracy.

Recent progress includes Oregon legislation that:

  • Expands Voter Pamphlet Language Access, translating state and county voter pamphlets into more of the top languages spoken by Oregon voters (2024)
  • Increases Access to School Board Meetings for parents and students, by livestreaming and posting recordings online (2024)
  • Puts Ranked Choice Voting measure on the 2024 ballot as a chance to adopt this voting method for some state elections (2023)
  • Expands Modernized Automatic Voter Registration to be used by Oregon’s Health Authority to reach more unregistered voters (2023)
  • Creates Tribal Consultation Task Force to explore ways to strengthen and improve Oregon policy requiring state government to consult with recognized sovereign tribal nations (2023)
  • Respects Tribal Interests in Public Records Preservation, by recognizing tribal cultural value as criteria for preserving public records (2023)

There’s more work ahead. With Ranked Choice Voting used for the first time in Portland (2024) and Multnomah County (2026) elections, we hope to help voters better understand this reform. And we’re doing the advance work now for Oregon’s 2025 legislative session, where we hope to continue the fight for a more inclusive and reflective democracy.
