It’s been a little over a year since Donald Trump became president and it is clear that his administration is doing everything in their power to erode our democracy and rights as American citizens to solidify his power.

One powerful way to make a difference in resisting the Trump administration’s authoritarian power grab and strengthening our democracy is to speak with your elected representatives in the Oregon legislature. Those who speak up have a disproportionate influence. With so much at stake right now, consider meeting with your state senator and state representative (or voicing your priorities by phone or email), as they deliberate on what legislation they will pass this year. You can schedule a 15-minute meeting with each of them, either in person or online. Oregon’s even-year legislative sessions are brief, so in 2026, the session will last only from February 2 to March 8. Now is the time to reach out.
