Advancing A Democracy That Represents All of Us

Together, we’re working to realize the unfinished promise of democracy.

Recent progress includes Oregon legislation that:

  • Expands Voter Pamphlet Language Access, translating state and county voter pamphlets into more of the top languages spoken by Oregon voters (2024)
  • Increases Access to School Board Meetings for parents and students, by livestreaming and posting recordings online (2024)
  • Puts Ranked Choice Voting measure on the 2024 ballot as a chance to adopt this voting method for some state elections (2023)
  • Expands Modernized Automatic Voter Registration to be used by Oregon’s Health Authority to reach more unregistered voters (2023)
  • Creates Tribal Consultation Task Force to explore ways to strengthen and improve Oregon policy requiring state government to consult with recognized sovereign tribal nations (2023)
  • Respects Tribal Interests in Public Records Preservation, by recognizing tribal cultural value as criteria for preserving public records (2023)

There’s more work ahead. With Ranked Choice Voting used for the first time in Portland (2024) and Multnomah County (2026) elections, we hope to help voters better understand this reform. And we’re doing the advance work now for Oregon’s 2025 legislative session, where we hope to continue the fight for a more inclusive and reflective democracy.

Knitting in Protest of Militarization of Oregon

Resist with every fiber of your being! Join us outside of the Portland Farmers Market at PSU on February 14th & 28th as we peacefully resist Trump's militarization of Oregon. We will have canopies to keep us dry from any potential rain but please be sure to bring your camping chair, blankets to keep warm and either your knitting supplies or another hobby you'd like to work on as we sit in resistance to Trump's authoritarianism.

Ask Your Representatives in the Oregon Legislature to Protect Our Democracy

One powerful way to make a difference in resisting the Trump administration's authoritarian power grab and strengthening our democracy is to speak with your elected representatives in the Oregon legislature. Those who speak up have a disproportionate influence. With so much at stake right now, consider meeting with your state senator and state representative as they deliberate on what legislation they will pass this year. You can schedule a 15-minute meeting with each of them, either in person or online.
