NCCU students march to the polls in North Carolina’s 2020 primary election

Students at NC Central University in Durham participated in a March to the Polls event on Thursday, walking together to an early voting site on their campus to cast a ballot in North Carolina’s primary election.

“It is important for us to vote together because that is when we feel the most power,” said Jazmyne Abney, a student at NCCU and a Democracy Fellow with Common Cause NC. “Sometimes we feel powerless when we vote alone, but voting together ensures that we are not alone, we are in this together, and our voices will be heard in unison.”

The event was organized by the NCCU Student Government Association, Common Cause North Carolina, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Advance Carolina.

Early voting for North Carolina’s primary election runs through Feb. 29. Primary election day is Tuesday, Mar. 3.
