ACTIVIST HUB

April: The State Legislature and the Governor finalized this year’s budget which contains good news for voters! New York has now joined the legion of states that are fighting back against intentionally deceptive political materials, otherwise known as deepfakes, generated with AI. The budget also included $5 million for local election administration, a huge win for counties ahead of the general election.

There was also good news for supporters of our new Public Campaign Finance program, the budget included $100 million for candidate matching funds and $14 million for administrative costs. Ensuring the program has the resources it needs is essential for its success in its inaugural year.

March: HUGE WIN FOR DEMOCRACY! In March, the New York State Assembly passed a resolution that defeated far-right extremists when we pulled New York out of a dangerous scheme for a federal constitutional convention. This follows the Senate’s passage of an identical resolution earlier this session. We want to thank our champions, Assemblymember Zebrowski and Senator Krueger, for their leadership on this issue.

January: Read our latest budget testimony on how New York must allocate funding for election administration at the local level and support the NYS Public Campaign Finance Board.
