More Bills We’re Monitoring in 2025

While some bills may get the spotlight, there are many other issues worth keeping an eye on during the 2025 legislative session.

Elections

LB19: Moves city elections to coincide with state elections. Could help increase turnout for city races and lower costs for election administrators.

  • LB19 had it’s public hearing on February 6th in the Government, Military, and Veteran’s Affairs committee.

LB105: Allows public power voting districts to be subdivided to accommodate coverage areas.

LB586: Creates a duty for county elections officials to take steps to ensure people who are restricted from voting in person can cast a ballot.

LB615: Adds a restriction on “deepfakes” to election law.

LB659: Requires elections officials to test vote counting machines prior to elections and allow for public access to the testing process.

Campaign Finance

LB74: Allows candidates to use campaign funds on childcare expenses.

Government  Access

LB664: Allows greater public access and comment to proposed administrative rules and regulations.

  • LB664’s public hearing is on February 12th before the Government, Military, and Veteran’s Affairs Committee.

Our Constitution

LB259: Creates procedures for recalling delegates to an Article V convention of states.

LB493:  Provides legal protections for acts of public expression.
