After Failed Appeal, MICRC Is Best Equipped to Pass New Maps

Detroit – In response to the U.S. Supreme Court denying the appeal of the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission, Common Cause Michigan Executive Director Quentin Turner released the following statement:

“It’s important for all Michiganders to be able to elect leaders they believe will best represent their voice in the State Legislature. Now that the courts have ruled, the independent citizen commission must ensure that maps better fulfill that promise for communities in Detroit. With new legal counsel and a clear mandate from the courts, the MICRC is better equipped than a special master to take on this important task.”
